What you should know about Church Hill Cafe and Bar
It is especially pleasing to have a young chef in Preet who has joined us from Auckland. She is exactly the type of person we want to have working for us and her help in everyway is very much appreciated. He adds a cool light side to our restaurant and is always popular with the guests. He is a great musician also and we will look to harness that talent, for your benefit and ours.
Deanne and Chris thank you all for making our restaurant the great place it is. We have gardens and 5 greenhouses that provide fresh produce and herbs that we utilise where possible in our menus. At Church Hill diners receive a personalised experience in a relaxed and friendly setting. Church Hill food is heavily biased to Stewart Island and Southland and that is something we don’t need to apologise for, after all, we are surrounded by some of the best produce in the world. Church Hill Restaurant Limited trading as Church Hill Boutique Lodge Restaurant.
Visitors choose to come to the Island so we get great tourists they know what they want and are often surprised by what they find. The Island is a large place but the community is concentrated in the township of Oban and that means everything is easily accessible. We are about nature and that will play a major role in your experiences on the Island. Everyone we talk to at the restaurant has enjoyed their time here and many wish they had stayed longer, what more could you ask of a place.
Explore our history As you walk you will come across story boards and features that will both inform and entertain. Meet a local We are everywhere and pretty friendly, feel free to say hi and hear it from the horses mouth so to speak . Ulva Island Jump on a water taxi and spend a few hours on our beautiful and unique bird sanctuary. Bunkhouse Theatre Give your feet an hour off and enjoy a quirky spin on island life. In the summer months it gets very busy here and if you are planning a trip then avoid missing out by finding out what we have to offer.
On my second evening in Oban, I take an uphill stroll to Church Hill Restaurant Oyster Bar, the island's best eatery and also perhaps surprisingly, given its address widely lauded as one of New Zealand's best
